we're considering buying a house in one of these counties and looking for the information on G&T programs in schools - unfortunately, the resources I am aware of don't provide any specifics on the G&T instructions in school...
does anyone can share any info regarding elementary and middle schools good for the upper 2%? the kind of G&T program if available, or how the differentiation and multiple-level classroom is organized if a school doesn't have the G&T?
basically, we're looking for the school districts where teachers are capable of handling (not just willing to try!!!) the kid who is 2-3 grades above his peers within the same classroom... homeschooling doesn't work for us... how would you identify progressiveness and flexibility of the school district?
if someone can suggest which formal school district criteria can signal this capacity I'd greatly appreciate the feedback... I was thinking about (1)top-performing school districts, (2) % of Master's degrees, (3) Asian/Jewish ethnic groups in towns - but somehow it still doesn't provide a good indicator... (1) and (2) are particularily misleading...
these school districts have different feels to them, but i'd look into:
ridgewood
glen rock
tenafly (ultra-competitive environment)
harrington park
closter
haworth
