Soon to be divorced 46yr old male looking for inexpensive one bedroom apartment in central/northern new jersey. Has to be close to bus/train to NYC.

Must be in kid friendly/kid safe neighborhood.

Money is VERY VERY tight so willing to work to help pay the rent.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

See threads on Weehawken (Heights or Blvd East areas). It's safe and kid-friendly and you may find a good deal ($1100 or so) if you're willing to walk/drive around and look for "to rent" signs in windows (rather than going to a realtor). The commute to midtown is just about unbeatable (frequent bus and mini-bus service - trip is 15 mins if no traffic; up to 30 - 35 if traffic is bad).

If you are willing to try NW NJ, you can find a one bedroom for under $1,000 in Hackettstown or Netcong. Both have trains to NYC. These locations are safe and family oriented. Best of luck to you.

rent budget i think depends a lot on what is included. often heat and hot water are included which is expensive. my friend just got a large and well maintained 1 bedroom in Ramsey for like 1100 with the above included , a walk to the train station. you have a ton of options right around 1000 so maybe need to be more specific on what is most important - short commute vs nice town etc.

Default Ramsey Apartments ?

Joe / others familiar with the area.

I am looking to find an apartment around Paramus and Ramsey is one of the towns I was actively considering. Interested in knowing a few apartment names in Ramsey and the one which your friend rented.

Thanks in advance for your help

-Toms
