Is it good old Kim or Codey again? Please dont tell me Christie isnt running for higher office because he is too bright to not strike while the iron is hot. Losing his re-election bid would ruin his career, while a lost at the national level(vp) just sets him up for either higher office (pres) or to run again in the future. He can't risk losing in NJ with his popularity soo high in the Gop and tea party circles.

If he can cure his excessive drinking, this is Christie's favored replacement....

Christie is not going to run for president in 2012. When he would need to announce his candidacy, his entire political career would be 2 years as governor of NJ. That is not going to cut it.

obama did it with senate experience. dont see why a governor couldnt do it. and i dont hate obama. but i do think obama is more charismatic. so maybe christie needs more seasoning...

I would say vp but he is the face of the party. The GOP is in need of a new face and Christie is the man for more then one reason. The biggest reason would be that even though he is a candidate he is by no mean an easy winner in his own state for re-election. I know he wont try his luck in Jersey again because the consequences of a loss are just too great.

Obama has not been very successful so far, and the Republicans made Obama's inexperience a big issue just 2 years ago when Obama was running.

It would be hypocritical to have Christie run. I do not see it happening.

Well, since no one answered the actual question: It would be Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno.

We only got a Lt. Gov. to avoid the very strange arrangement where someone like Codey could be governor and Senate Pres. at the same time. And considering Jersey's track record of rarely having a governor serve out a full term (although generally it's because of scandal, indictment, appointing gay foreigner boyfriends to homeland security positions, etc.) it seems like this was a needed move.

Anyone remember that time we had like 8 governors in a week?
