Hi, I'm looking at an apartment near 12th and washington. How is hoboken, especially this area late at night for ladies? I mean after midnight, 1am, 2am.

Of course we'll be smart, just trying to get a general idea.

Thanks

For an urban environment, it's literally just about as safe as you can get anywhere in the US.

Very safe, but if your looking to go partying a lot that location kind of sucks. Sure you're close to washington but you're all the way uptown.

Nah not too much. I work late sometimes too. Just want to ask before finding out the hard way!

Up as far as 12th it should be comparitively quiet AND fairly safe at the same time. Its kind of the best of both, I'd think.

very safe, especially that part of town because there is constant foot traffic (and noise) on washington street at all hours.

and you're close to a lot of the more "Adult" bars as opposed to the post college bars. good spot with easy access to bus into city, or a 10 minute walk down to the path (maybe 15 - i walk fast).

just be smart walking late at night and don't walk in the dark streets - that's where the trouble seems to happen when it does. worst i've heard in my years there were people being robbed on the street.

I think it's fine. There's a lot of street life at night on Washington with at least one 24-7 store (bagel shop on (I think 8th & Washington).

We were at 10th & Bloomfield, one block over. I have to admit that, coming from NYC where it was lively around the clock, I didn't care for the dark and quiet and occasional bands of young men up there after about 10 pm and stopped giving my dog late-night walks. Nonetheless, we came home late at night from time to time without incident or fear. We usually took the bus home and got off a block or two from our corner, so it was a short walk. I recommend the bus!

I would be more concerned with finding an apartment with a BR that does NOT face Washington St. than with the safety factor. I used to live in the area you're talking about and it gets pretty noisy at night, even at 1 or 2am 'cus there are bars and restaurants all along that street.
