Yes to Harold's!! And the key point, in my opinion, is that not only are the portions huge but the food is actually DELICIOUS. Their cabbage salad and the pickle bar (which you help yourself to) as well as the particular food (mostly I order pastrami on rye- what else?) is phenomenal. It's one thing to have big portions but really, big portions AND good food is REALLY something.
The only thing is you really can't go there too often. Maybe a few times a year. We typically go if we have out of town guests with us and they just cannot believe their eyes(the portion size) and then they cannot believe how good the food is!!!
(and no I swear I am not affiliated with them in any way. Just a very loyal customer)

You can't leave out Noodle Gourmet in New Brunswick. Yeah, it's cheap and collegey, but it's amazing Chinese food far above and beyond the usual generic dragon fare.

La Cocina Latina in Rahway makes amazing Cuban sandwiches and other Cuban foods, but for Cuban in NJ, you can't beat Mi Bandera and Las Palmas in Union City.
