There are no non-stop flights to Newark from Ca for a reasonable price. The best option I found was flying to JFK or Lagardia or NYC.
I'm planning to travel in early December with a family of 3 (one 5 year old).
Question is:
Is it easy to get to Jersey city from these NYC airports?
How much would a cab ride cost for 3 people?
Which airport is better, closer, less hassles?
I don't know if there's a direct/no-stop flight from Stewart Airport in Newburgh, NY, but check that out also. Cab ride? Start saving now! LOL! Try contacting a car service instead. As far as ease, don't worry about it, you're not doing the driving, right? Time depends on time of day. Long-regular time. Lenghty-rush hour. And the views aren't pretty.
Others will have better input than me though. I haven't driven up there in about 11-12 years.

CA is a gigantic state. Where in CA are you coming from? I fly LAX-EWR regularly, and there are usually decent non-stop rates.
LaGuardia would probably be a little bit better, but not much. The cost will be up to $100 including tolls/tip and will take time varying from about 40 minutes to over 2 hours depending on traffic.

EWR Newark to Jersey City..cab ride will be $30-50 and is the closest, most viable option to avoid NYC traffic
