I would like to know if anyone knows any good sites/resources for getting stats on a school. I did a quick search on Google and found the standard sites (don;t know how up to date these are?). However, I would like to know if there are any other free sites available - specifically that give reviews from parents. For example are there any boards, etc? Thanks.

There are a few places to check out:

SchoolMatters

GreatSchools.net

Also Newsweek did a 2006 best high school list which can be found here

The 1,200 Top U.S. Schools - Newsweek America's Best High Schools - MSNBC.com (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12532678/site/newsweek/ - broken link)

And NJ Monthly has a ranking of high schools in NJ here

NJ Monthly

Happy reading!

GreatSchools.net has parent reviews, though it isn't particularly comprehensive. It seems most people who post on the site are either really happy or unhappy with their districts.

If you want to know which school is competitive in Science, you can go to Science League website. e.g. JP Stevens High of Edison won 2007 Chemistry Science League competition #1 in New Jersey over hundreds of other high schools, and Middlesex Acadamy of Science of Edison won #1 in Physics Science League competition in 2007 that will give you a good idea of "real time" info about schools districts in New Jersey. Many websites' review are either based on out dated data, e.g. 3 years old or subjective view or historic view, but New Jersey Science League high school competitions gives you the first hand REAL time info to compare hundreds of high schools in New Jersey.
