Is anyone familiar with the White Meadow lake area of Rockaway Twp? We had been looking in Sussex county but feel the commute will be too long for my husband.
White Meadow lake seems to have reasonably priced homes and I've heard Rockaway twp has a good school system.

I live in White Meadow lake, and have been here for about 3 years.

My wife and I love this place. It's a great community with a beautiful lake and clubhouse, and everyone is neighborly and nice.... which is not typical for NJ, where I have lived my whole life.

The streets are some of the safest I've ever seen anywhere. The meanest things on the streets are 12-year old skater kids, and they scatter whenever you tell them to shoo. No problems.

In all honesty, I wouldn't leave this place if I didn't have to. It's great. My sons are in a good daycare, and the school systems rank fairly well among the NJ school systems, which are generally good to begin with.

I grew up in White Meadow Lake and my parents still live there (though I find myself in Raleigh, NC now!).

My brother and I attended Stony Brook Elementary School and Copeland Middle School, and later Morris Hills. We both excelled and attended Rutgers University. I would say that each of those three schools prepared us well for college.

After college, I worked for one year in Manhattan while living at home in WML. I took the Lakeland Bus from Dover and depending on the time of day, it would sometimes take close to 2 hours (depending on traffic and if I caught the local instead of the express bus) to get to Port Authority. I'm not sure if your husband will be driving or commuting by bus - the train is also an option. If he goes by bus or train he can either sleep, read, or get some work done on the commute.

I will say that the commute (along with a crazy boss) contributed to my decision to quit that job in Manhattan. Some people handle it well... I just wasn't one of those people.

Default Thank you

Thanks for the helpful posts. we have been looking at houses in the area and really like the community. While looking at houses we have met people who have lived there for 30+ years and had nothing but positive comments about living about in WML.
