best / cheapest option from north elizabeth to soho commute (Newark: cost of, bus)

so i just moved near north ave and north broad street in elizabeth and trying to figure out the best way to get to work. i have taken the north jersey line to penn then took the C/E train downtown. is there a better way?

perhaps taking the rail to the path train and get off at cristopher st and walking it. i heard theres a bus to PA and then i can hop on the subway from there. theres got to be a cheaper way by avoiding the subway and taking the path. suggestions? thanks in advance.

I believe the cost of a PATH ticket is about the same as a subway ride, so you'd save the cost differential between the ticket to Newark and the ticket to NYC. You'll be adding a walk to the mix, which is a good thing in nice weather, but sucks in the rain and in the winter.
