We are relocating to Norther NJ. My wife is going to work in Pearl River, Rockland County, NY. I will most likely go to Summit, NJ, or maybe nearby or a little bit south. So northern NJ probably is better for both us to have managable commute. I have two kids and one will go to school next year, so good schools would be our top priority. We probably can afford a range from 400K to 600K. I don't care the lot size too much, but hope the house is not older than me I searched some new home communities in central NJ, which cost at least 800K. I guess it is going to cost more in the North. BTW, How much the property tax is? Is there an additional school tax as in Rockland, NY? Your help and comments would be highly appreciated.

Check out Scotch Plains, Westfield or Mountainside NJ.
Westfield has a highly ranked school system.

Default Northern NJ

We were visiting Summit last month. A beautiful, quaint older town with some fabulous restaurants and great schools.

Northern Bergen county has some nice towns not far from Rockland county. I am not sure where abouts in Rockland you are looking. But the ares near Norwood, etc. are nice...may be pricey though......
