Cheap is a relative term and doesn't tell us much about how much you would pay.

Try doing a search on move.com or bestrentnj.com

About 30 years ago, I used to live about a mile from Metropark in Edison at the Evergreen Meadows apartments. Don't know how they are now, but you might want to expand your search to include Edison, as it was pretty close to the train station, too.

You can try Fox Hill Run or Barrons Gate, its near Woodbridge Station. These are good appts, Barrons Gate specially.
Gill Lane is also near the train station.
I agree with the post above, bestrentnj.com would be a good source of information for you. Most of the appts listed have bus service to train station.
