Hello. My husband and I are in our early 30's. We are relocating to central NJ for work in New Brunswick. Combined salary will be >100K. No kids, and none planned for a couple of years.

We want to buy a townhouse for under $400K. After a search, the homes we like best are in Somerset (Franklin Township) and Piscataway.

Are there any serious problems with either location? When I mention Piscataway, some people have a negative reaction, but no valid reasons for the reaction. The home we like most is in Piscataway, but we do not want resale issues in the future. Thanks.

Piscataway is a great area with lots of nice homes and plus it is very convenent to New Brunswick and all major highways. If you want some info on the area, visit this site:

Piscataway Township, New Jersey - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The information provided is acutally pretty accurate. If you need anything or are looking for a home, let me know and I will send you some information on what is available.

Certain areas of Piscataway are more desirable than others, anything along the River road area is more desirable than the Arbor area (adjacent to Plainfield)
Any area of Franklin along the Canal is preferable to the areas next to New Brunswick.
