We will be moving to Hackensack approximately July 20. We have an 11 month old and will be requiring a great daycare center nearby. Does anyone have any advice on quality daycare facilities in the area? Thank you!
Is the baby in daycare now? If yes, can they recommend a place in your new area? If not, and you are thinking about a family daycare I recommend contacting Catholic Charities for the Hackensack area. They can provide you with names of family daycare providers that are registered and checked on by CC. That's how we found our daughter's provider and we absolutely love her. Good luck with your search
There is a daycare associated with the Hackensack Univ. Medical Center which I hear is very good. I believe it's called the Sarkis and Siran (sp?) Facility.

Yes, she is in daycare currently. However, we are relocating from out of state and do not really have any contacts in the area. The current daycare is one an an individuals house, but we love it, as our daughter is treated just like this woman's own child....it is a very loving environment. I'll have to check with Catholic Charities to see what advice they can provide. Thanks for the advice!

I'll have to check with the Medical Center as well. Thanks for the advice.
How is daycare regulated in this area? Are there mostly daycare facitilies or are there a lot of people who have daycare in their homes, or is it a mix? Is there a normal range as to what is charged per month?
I don't live in the Hackensack area, but I think in New Jersey as a whole there is a good mix of chain-like child care facilities, smaller mom & pop type child care places and then the people who provide family daycare out of their home. I'm in Middlesex County and my daughter's provider charges $45 a day. I provide drinks (she refills if necessary and supplies the refills), diapers, and wipes. She provides lunch and snacks and fantastic care Since she is liscensed and registered with Catholic Charities she is subject to surpise visits from Catholic Charities monitoring her activities and how she is running her business. She is allowed 5 or 6 children on her own with 2 under 1 year old. If she has more kids or more under 1 she has to have an assistant present.
I pay 145.75 a week but my son is 3 and potty trained. When he started on daycare it was 189.75 and he was 16 mos. He is in The learning Place on Passiac St btwn Prospect and Summit.
