Hello NJ friends,

I'm thinking of planning an adventurous weekend getaway for the woman in my life. This would be in the January timeframe. I'm looking for a destination within a 3 hour's drive, that provides a handful of interesting local things to see, maybe a bed and breakfast type of place, some shops, etc.

Any ideas?

I would go to the mad river valley of Vermont, it is a bit longer than 3hours, 5 hours drive time.

Lots of B&Bs , tons of great restaurants , stores, and lots to do.

Ditto. Check out what's going on in-town and at SPAC. A super town.

DH and I just stayed at The Settler's Inn in Hawley, PA for our anniversary last month. It was fantastic!

Any particular villages you'd recommend?

Longwood Gardens, Andrew Wyeth, Philadelphia, West Chester, Valley Forge~cold but lovely.
Other options~St. Michaels, MD or Annapolis, MD (or both)
Langhorne/Peddlers Village/New Hope area is quaint and lots of boutique type shops.
