Throw a book at the guy? Talk your way out of it?
According to the news report on this the moron with the gun was shot and hit by an armed security guard who was in the next room. He then took his own life which is what he should have done in the first place.
Unstable people should not be carrying guns.

He was a retired FL police officer.

Not quite a personal gift but my wife gets me a gift certificate at my usual local shop. Unless you know specifically they types of firearm's involved, you might be better off getting something generic.

If he's a handgun shooter, these people make top qualify bags. I've had one for years and it's still like new condition.

Absolutely, the only thing that would have been better is if the room had been full of gun carrying Wyatt Earps and they all decided it was time to carry out the law. Imagine 15 or 20 wackos all taking target practice on that disturbed (but legal) gun wacko.

Does the recipient have a really good cleaning kit? If not and you can determine what kinds of fireams (ie. handguns, rifles, shotguns) and calibers or gauges, a trip to a good gunshop or stores such as Ramsey Outdoor, Sports Authority, or Dicks should yield something appropriate. Most of us gun owners have cleaning kits we pieced together from this, that, and the other.
