I am currently located around North Bergen Nj. I have a 10 year old son and seems that his head is very itchy at times. He has been growing these pimple like forms all around his head and neck hairline. When i go to touch his skin it hurt's him. It seems raw and red at times. I been washing his head with Head n Shoulder's but it seems to only suppress the problem for a minimal time. If you guy's can help out with any kind of info on a great Derm i would be very grateful the Dr does not have to be a pediatrician.

She recommended me to see this dermatologist which was horrible I was waiting nearly a hour and the dermatologist has poor reviews and I could understand why!

I rather go by reviews from sources. So please if your not going to shed some light don't bother posting on my thread.

I'm asking for recommendation's not someone telling me what I should or shouldn't do thanks.

Wow, calm down. You made no mention of seeing a doctor or your bad experience with the other dermatologist, so it would otherwise be a natural 1st step to see your pediatrician.

My brother had good luck with Rapapport in Englewood Cliffs. Good luck with your son.

I have no recommendation on a dermatologist, but switch to Neutrogena clear shampoo or Johnson & Johnson No More Tears immediately.

The Head and Shoulders will only irritate his condition.

I also wouldn't place much stock in online reviews of doctors.

I don't put much stock in online reviews of doctors either. Most are from embittered people who were expecting a cure all or they were given a diagnosis they didn't want to hear or believe.

Most of the dermatologists in the NY-NJ area are going to be overwhelmed with patients referred for possible cancer diagnoses, skin lesions, and scaling. At the same time, they are also scheduling excisions and biopsies. As such, the over-crowding is not going to be confined to just a few offices. It will be all over. The doctor I go to, Barbar Rao, is located in Manhattan, but has limited hours as part of University Doctors Group in Somerset. No matter the time I schedule, morning or afternoon, his Somerset office is packed with patients of all ages.

FWIW, I'm no doctor and do not presume to have any experience in diagnosis. However, I had a similar condition when I was younger. It can best be described as an irritation of the hair follicle by bacteria, but sometimes fungus. The carrier is usually clothing of some type like hats, collars, or scarves that has been intermingled with clothes from someone else. (It's one reason I hate checking my coat during the winter.)

I agree with Mike J that a switch to Neutrogena clear shampoo would be helpful. If, in fact, it is the bacterial version of folliculitis, an oral medicine may be prescribed. For the fungal version, there is usually a cream or salve that can be prescribed.

Good luck!

Yes you could be right but not all dermatologist's or as a matter of fact Any type of doctor can give you a right diagnosis, that is why there are plenty of law suit's happening left and right. There are doctors that wouldn't even bother asking or consulting if one would need a biopsy, koh, woodlamp, exray's etc... done to a individual, that is why you ask around and read review's on how a doctor treated other's there are docotr's that just want your money and prescribe you anything that comes into mind. Wrong procedure's being done from cosmetic surgery all the way up to blood transfusion and so on you get the point. Thanks for the advice though maybe someone would take it into consideration.

Thanks for the Doctor i'll check it out.
