Hi, all.
I'm looking at places on Ogden and Palisades Aves just south of Riverview Park and trying to figure out how the commute to work in NYC would work. Husband works on 23rd, so the Hoboken PATH is just perfect for him (I have another hour's commute after landing in Manhattan, so my trip already starts at hopeless), but I fear that walking 4-6 blocks north, waiting for the 9th and Congress elevator down the hill, waiting for the light rail to the PATH station to go back south past where we started (or possibly better, possibly worse, hoofing it all the way to the PATH on foot), then waiting for the actual PATH will add just a stupid amount of time to our moving-closer-to-NYC-to-reduce-our-commute-time plan. But it's pretty hard to gauge just by looking at maps.
Can anyone tell me how long it generally takes for them to get from the Heights to the Hoboken PATH? Or if there is some other way up/down the hill by foot closer to the 2nd Street light rail station (besides a swan dive), and how long it takes from the 2nd Street station? Any chance of avoiding more years sitting on a bus stuck in the tunnel would be nice, but if it's the only practical option, I'll understand.
(And yes, if I could find a place in Hoboken/downtown JC near the PATH station that was affordable to us (or learn to fly), boy howdy, would I.)
Much thanks in advance for your time and thoughts.

Form 9th / Congress to Hoboken Terminal took me 10 mins....walking form 9th / Congress to Hoboken Terminal took me 30mins. Walking down the hill can be abit Dangerous due to the traffic and does not save you much time , if at it. You don't save any $$$ anyway , because its a flat fare. During the Rush hour , they run trains ever 2-5 mins so missing one doesn't mean the end of the world. Off peak is different , trains run every 10-15mins.

my friend lived on Ogden and just took the NJ Bus to port authority. Sometimes it would take only 15-20 minutes. Sometimes about 35 minutes. It's a quick shot right into the tunnel.

You can take the #87 bus with runs on Palisades Ave to the Hoboken station.
This would be the easiest and fastest.
If you want to go straight into NY you can take the #123 which is what I take. It runs straight Palisades to PABT and the commute time is about 30 mins.

Unfortunately not, HBLR is $2.10 a ride, $64.00 for a month pass. Then the PATH, then NYCT subway if needed.

She can take the #22 or #85 buses as well if she doesn't want to take the PATH (I believe it is also a little bit cheaper than taking the PATH. $54 per month rather than $64)
