Then it is YOUR interpretation that the word "obamacare" is derogatory. To my ears, that's it's name. Not good. Not bad. So people should call it something else just because a few people dont like it?
you're right. it is my interpretation, but i've met many many other people that have the same feeling, and i've seen how it's used and who it's used by.
so maybe when you call it that, it's just a name...so fine. but it's not just a few people who think it's deragotory.

who named it obamacare anyways?
this is what someone wrote on freerepublic:
"I'm sure the term "Obamacare" was 'coined' by many people at the same time. It was patterned after the term "Hillarycare."
That said, a LexisNexis search of all news media shows that Wayne Madsen of the Progressive Online Journal was the first to use the phrase "Obamacare" in a pro-Obamacare article titled Obama's well-crafted plan offers Americans full coverage without emptying the Treasury, on April 4, 2008 in the Salt Lake Tribune.
Here's the money quote:
"Obama's national health insurance program, let's call it "ObamaCare," provides Americans with affordable premiums, co-pays and deductibles."
If there is an earlier reference to the term, it doesn't show up on the LexisNexis search. "
this is such a ridiculous complaint. its just his name. if it wasnt so unpopular im sure he would be thrilled to have his name on it. the fact that its seen as a negative has more to do with the fact that the bill is seen as a negative.

maybe true. i read one site that said, liberals would be happy to call it that if it doesn't get repealed and ends up a huge success. of course, that was on a conservative blog site.
seemingly, if you google obamacare, and go based on the results...it's overwhelmingly used by people criticizing it.
it's interesting though what you found in lexisnexus. maybe they (the administration) were fine with it. i have only ever seen it used in a deragotory tone though. so i don't think it's ridiculous. also, if it is successful, i still think obamacare is a stupid name. but whatever. we know where you stand. you hate it. i combined you calling me a leftist with using obamacare, and I decided you're using it in a deragotory, insulting way. maybe you don't see it that way. but that's it.
i'm done with this discussion. the point was, members from all political backgrounds walk all over the constitution and use various means to justify it. Democrats don't have a monopoly on that.

i see it in a negative way, but the words themselves arent negative. just like if a liberal calls me a right winger. i know they dont like right wingers but that doesnt make the label inappropriate. i think part of the reason why when you search obamacare it appears negative, is because the vast majority of articles written about obamacare are negative. there isnt much positive to be said about the bill. the people on the left are basically just keeping their mouths shut because they dont with to deal with the fact that they passed a horrible bill and they have suffered and will continue to suffer politically because of it.
if you take a republican politician who says what howard dean said about not caring if the health bill was unconstitutional, the republican constituents would go nuts and that would end his political career.
Not sure if anyone cares but I have great health care but am very very happy with Obamacare. I dont mind paying more for every American to have some sort of coverage. I feel as a country we should take care of our own first. This is a great start. Again I will only lose money from this but I see it as my duty to help fellow Americans. Great job getting Obamacare done!!

it seems to me, that at least until 2014 less people will be covered because of all the additional costs and regulations.
i know i said i was done, but couldn't help but feel the need to share this article, given the context to the discussion. i wasn't even aware that this happened yet.
