Tenafly council close on communication with Christie on light rail - NorthJersey.com

Sigh , i don't know what to say....these towns that hold entire projects is starting to get ridiculous. Its one of the reasons the MOM network hasn't been restored yet or more service on the Pascack Valley line , one town has ruined it for all. There reasons are not even legit , Freight traffic has gone down to low levels , one or 3 trains a week. The Tenafly Stations weren't supposed to be Park and Ride Stations , the line will mostly be used by people further up like in Cresskill and Closter.....which happens on other lines. Trains would only take less then 5 seconds to cross the intersection which wouldn't have gates. This part of Bergen County has the most commuters per Square mile to Jersey City / Newark / NYC. The Towns North and South both support this line alot , i think NJT should just pull all of its Tenafly stations. But i have a feeling this project will become like the MOM project , held up by one town intill the town gives to other surrounding towns.

So does this mean it's gonna die? I don't believe that most of the town is against it. The light rail is needed (even though one seat ride would be better), but I know people are concerned about the traffic/ trains going through center of town. Stinks because I think it would be good for this area.

Not really , one town vs. alot. CSX doesn't want the line anymore....so its going to be this or nothing. Or the West Shore line which would run form Kingston,NY to Hoboken but thats unlikely to be restored this decade.

Unless you work at either the Port Authority or George Washington Bridge Bus Terminals, or drive yourself into Manhattan, there is no such thing as a "one seat ride", so stop pretending it is the show stopper.

To ignore the fact that many residents have had their financial industry jobs relocated to Jersey City and other points along the Light Rail line, while waving the "one seat ride" canard is really quite disingenuous.
