Are The Property Taxes High In Shamong And Medford? We're Considering Relocating Out There And Are Curious If The Taxes Are On The High Side. Any Info Would Be Great!!!!!!!
They are not any higher than any other place. Consider Southampton Township aka Vincentown. They are low there..for NJ. I am partial as I lived there for 10 years. Southampton is what Medford thinks it is..a true small town feel. 44 square miles, rural, 1 school, full time kindergarten, Seneca is the High School. A great place to live. I would move back in a second if I could.
Southampton is next to Medford and Shamong and has the same zip code as Shamong. 08088
I don't know too much about shamong taxes but I do have a friend who just bought a home for $512 in medford and her taxes are about $5 a year. Mine on the other hand are $5 for a home I am selling for $260 in haddon heights. We are closer to phila and the taxes are much higher. I hope this helps a little.
Bought home in Medford in 2001 for 250k. Taxes were 3800 initially.
We moved in 2005, our last assessment was for 6100. So, in 4 years, our taxes went up by 2300.
I think there is a web page (though I am not sure where it is located) that breaks down mil rates for each town in Burlington County. Your answer therefore could be found if you can access this site.
We bought our house in 2001 for $355, and the taxes were $9200 and now they are $13,100. We are drowning in these taxes! I have 2 more years until my oldest daughter graduates from Shawnee and my other two are small enough to move without issue. I hate that I am being chased out of my home. But it is ruining our lives. We cant vacation or fix our house up because $1,100 a month has to be put aside for property taxes. And I heard they are coming around and reassessing everyone. So there are going to be alot of homes going up for sale when everyone pays what they truely owe.

You just made my day! Reaffirmed my decision to leave New Jersey was the right one. Had we stayed in Medford, we'd be getting whacked again.
