I found a house in Hamilton I'm interested it, but since parts of it are iffy, I wanted to ask here.

The house is right off Greenwood Ave on Joan Terrace - near Greenwood Cemetery.

Is this a bad area of Hamilton?

I also ask because the house is a twin, semi-detached home and you often see those in the more urban parts of the state.

Greenwood Cemetary is right on the border of Trenton. Trenton is not a safe city. In the Trenton Times this morning, they reported that vandals hit the low crime, historic district of Mill Hill yesterday. They spray painted 16 cars and 9 homes with "gang inspired graffiti". This is a neighbourhood that is considered to be one of the safest in Trenton.

I would check out Joan Terrace very closely.

It's not the worst neighborhood to be in. That area north of Greenwood (on the westbound side of Greenwood) is dicey. But south of Greenwood, where Joan Terrace is, by the cemetery, is much better. I can't recall having been on Joan Terr. but I have been in that neighborhood and it's okay. Look closely at the homes on the block you are thinking of buying - if they are reasonably clean and well-kept, then it's probably okay. However, by Hamilton standards, this is one of the not as nice neighborhoods; by Trenton standards, this is one of the better neighborhoods.

I know this is late for the initial writer, but my husband and I are trying to find something affordable (but safe) near Princeton.

I found the police blotter for Hamilton here: Police Department (http://www.hamiltonnj.com/hpd/police_2.asp - broken link)

As previously mentioned, this part of Hamilton is virtually in Trenton. It is not a great area. If looking in Hamilton, try to focus further east or south. No way I'd live that close to Trenton.

Default hamilton or trenton area?

how about the far end of south broad street in hamilton? would you consider areas close to White Horse or Yardville Heights too close to Trenton or are they ok?
