As long as there is a continued resistance to the notion of home rule, the tax issue will be a constant. You can't have 70 municipalities, for instance, in a county that's a scant 250 square miles in area (Bergen County) and expect that your taxes will stablize, or drop. 3.5 square miles per town is unsustainable. Most issues merit debate. Not this one. Of course, Bergen residents can continue to choose to live this lifestyle: that is their wont. However, you will NOT reduce your property taxes, ever, in this current model. Those who still pursue to purchase property will do so at their own peril. The beast is hungry, and needs to be paid.

I agree that consolidation and therefore reduction of home rule is the ultimate track we must follow. However, there are some things that can be done at a state level that would have a significant impact. One of those would be overturning the Abbott ruling and more equitably distributing state educational dollars.

After that, use the carrot and stick approach. Incentify the various towns to merge and work together and expand shared services. Corzine actually started some of this by cutting funding to towns that were under a certain population size.

I wait a short time. If he doesn't come over, I get out and pump it myself.

Corporate settings reflect the attitude of the direction of current social culture.

There are many cutting edge aspects of acceptable behavior and language that are championed in corporate culture and desirable in general society. Insulting people because of their weight would qualify a grade shooler as a bully. Not sure what you'd call an adult with the same attitude.

Anyone who wishes to engage in back alley, bar room, school bus stop conversation, might just want to keep that private instead of broadcasting such a base attitude on a worldwide forum.

The original post would make more sense if CC was a contender for wide receiver on a professional football team where height, weight, speed and physical agility were directly related to performance and the team's profit.
Or nose tackle, in his case......
