Hello,
I am thinking of moving from Memphis, TN to Morris County i have not pick the city yet. Is it easy to find a job in that area? any advice?
thanks
Depends on what you do, but employment is relatively easy to find in NJ.
Now, whether or not the job pays well enough to live here...that is a different concern.
Thanks christina0001,
I am business administrator and i live confortable in Memphis, i work for a company Monday thru Friday. Is it too expensive to live in New Jersey? are not the salaries good enough?
thanks
It really depends. But NJ is nothing like TN. Cost of living is much higher. If you are coming alone-you should be fine. There are many different living options for a single person. The culture shock may be harder for you than the financial realities.
Thanks cyntmac,
I am not worry about the culture shock i have been in New Jersey several times visiting and i really prefer the culture there; I am worry about the cost of living and the availabilty to find a good job that let me live there as well as i live in Memphis
As already said, it all depends on what kind of salary you can command, and what you consider "living good". A nice house in most of Morris County will run you $500k or more, and taxes will add another $6-10k on top of that. If your job ends up being in NYC, you've got to factor in commuting time and costs.
As a BA, you could do OK, but you may find that people tend to work alot more hours up here than in the south, so your quality of life my suffer due to that.
A little more info on what you consider "good living" and info on whether you're bringing a family with you or not may get you more/better advice.
Thanks cyntmac,

chd, I moved from NJ to Tennessee to get away from the stress of living there, but moved to Nashville. I have been to Memphis but doubt I would be happy there. It's too laid back. Nashville is just the perfect pace for me. My husband asked for a job transfer here. In NJ you will pay a state income tax unlike Tennessee. You will pay more for housing. A house thats in the $400,000 in Brentwood, Tn-An upscale section of nashville where houses can range in the millions .That $400,000 house in Brentwood, TN would be over a MIL in NJ and it would only have the front brick.
I would think this over very carefully. I am glad I am no longer in NJ, I love my new life.
