Looking to move from DC areas to NJ by end of this month. I've been doing some searches and came up with North Bergen, passiac, clifton, prospect park.
I can afford something in the range of 600-1000. Easy public commute to NYC is a must for me. any suggestions

save more pennies, you're not going to get much for that small amount

Default Cliffside Park

Try Cliffside Park in Bergen County. You can definitely find something in that range in one of the older walk-up buildings...

Might want to look into Harrison, NJ. Nice town, half spanish - half white. There's a PATH station in town that can take you into lower manhattan in 20 minutes or midtown in about 30 minutes (don't quote me on that time though).

The town is a little bit gritty looking, but perfectly safe, and rents for a 1br will be around $800 a month.
