Michael Sean Carmody dies after being taken off life support - NorthJersey.com

The officer is supposed to make a full recovery.

Does anyone have any information on what happened here? I have not heard any reasoning for why he shot the cop. I expected to hear that he had warrants out for his arrest on serious charges, or had a lot of drugs in the car, or something along those lines, but nothing like that has happened and it has been several days now.

Anyone have any information on this story?

I just heard on the news today he was involved in a high speed car chase running from the cops (don't know the reason) when he crashed the car or something and got out and shot the cop. I hope the cop makes it because they said she's still in critical condition.

Yes, I heard that. I am wondering why he ran from the cops in the first place?

Drugs , theres a small underground Drug scene up here in Westwood which seems to be ignored by the cops due to who the dealers and distributors are.... Family Members of the cops in Washington Twp / Westwood are doing the dealing , mostly pot and some heroin...form what i heard. In the summer time its fireworks... But i have no doubt that drugs didn't have a factor in this....

Ugh I hate that he is associated with Westwood. He grew up in Jersey City and thats what he considered his hometown.

This kid was 23 years old with a few priors on his record for drugs and I think stealing. He was being pulled over for speeding and they say he got scared he was going to go to jail so he shot at the cop to get away. Once he couldn't get away he shot himself. Too bad he didn't start out shooting himself instead of the poor cop. The news says that she is doing better which is good news.
