$1,850 per car sounds awfully high to me, even if that's an annual premium. Are there some bad drivers mixed in there? Prior accidents/tickets? What kinds of cars are these? How much Insurance are you trying to buy?

Have you tried shopping around? All the major players have calculators online ... just be sure to answer the questions HONESTLY!

We have five drivers with NJ Manufacturers, and our insurance is $6,000

One driver with minor points, the most expensive is for a 23 year old male driving a 2003 Nissan.

If anyone in the family is military or former military, call USAA to see if you qualify for membership. Our premiums for auto insurance in NJ were amazingly low. And there service is top notch, our policy includes roadside assistance, and they have great vendors for that as well. Faster and friendlier than any I dealt with through AAA.

If that doesn't work, try NJCure, I've heard good things about them.

FWIW, I have GEICO, and I'm insuring a 2002 Focus and a 2004 Taurus for about $1,300 per year, total. I feel this rate is reasonable, and have seen how well GEICO handles the claims, as well as the premiums ... all 100% top notch. No complaints from this camper :-)

I highly recommend them!

Any new or young drivers on the policy? that can significantly jack up the quote.

Check your deductible and maybe raise it up somewhat. That can save some but make it something you can live with if you are ever involved in a claim.

Shop every company and check to see what discounts you will get if you bundle your insurance.

I have a 2001 Jetta, and I pay $996 per year for Geico. You seem to have a better deal!

I did get a nice drop in the rate when I moved from Bergen to Monmouth County!

Really! I'm surprised. I wonder why there's such a difference. I guess a portion of it might be my multi-car discount, but that wouldn't explain the entire thing.

Interesting.
