I am a single male, early 30's, looking to move out of Manhattan this spring to an area that I can rent for a year and than purchase prob a condo. I grew up in LI and BK, and do not want to buy anything there nor Queens/SI/BX or Westchester. I know nothing will compare to living in Manhattan but I am looking to purchase a condo next year and its not happening here! Ive enjoyed living here for 6 + years but Im done throwing away $$ every year on rent. I work 2 blocks from the 23rd St PATH train and I do not have to be into work til 9/9:30 so an hour commute is really not a problem. I heard Montclair is good for what I am looking for being it has restaraunts, bars, shopping, starbucks etc. Ive also read that a lot of single professionals are starting to move there. Any truth to that? I also see they have a lot of condos in my price range that are in walking distance to the train which is perfect. A 5-10 min walk to the train would be great being I would love not to have a car while I rent, although I would prob get one once I buy something. I know Hoboken, JC, West NY, Weehawken are "busier" areas with more to offer as far as nightlife but I dont see myself buying in those areas. Thanks in advance for the response!

Grove Street area in Jersey City is seeing lot of new condo construction, it's not as busy as Hoboken and other JC areas. Millburn has a few condos as well and it's a nice little quiet town within 25 miles of Manhattan. Montclair is nice too.
