First the snow last week, now a potential winter storm for April Fool's Day. Winter Storm Warnings in effect for Morris, Sussex, Warren, and Western Passaic. Winter Weather Advisories elsewhere in North Jersey. Calling for 4-8 inches of snow here in Sussex County. I say bring it on. I'll take this over last year's 90 F heat the first week of April. This is almost a 180 from last spring's record warmth. There's still some snow on the ground in Morris and Sussex County from last week.

Of course April snow isn't unheard of, but significant snow events such as the one that may possibly occur tonight and tomorrow don't happen very often. This storm will be nothing like 1997, but it could easily become a top ten snow event for April. Anyone else looking forward to it?

I am! I like one last spring storm, and it tries so hard, but it can hardly stick around for a few hours. And then I laugh at it.

Default April

April is a charming minx with dancing green eyes whose mercurial ways give false hope to early gardeners as she whirls in white robes of a sudden snow squall. Days of bright sunshine are mixed with bone chilling moist air, frosts and gentle rain or hailstorms of biblical proportion. These are the veils April sheds as she improvises dance steps to tease and mislead, all the while faithfully delivering the solemn promise of May.
