My family and I are thinking of moving to Jersey City for about a year or so before we move farther into suburb (Westfield, most likely). Reason being that I most likely will be going to school part time in the city, so I will be commuting in odd hours. I would like to find a 2 bedroom near Grove Station. What streets do you recommend? My primary concern is safety (as I will be commuting late at night and such) and I have a 3 year old.
School/etc doesn't matter too much since we only plan to stay a year or two, max.

Finding a 2 bd room around that area of downtown will be hard, especially if your looking for something "cheap". The whole area of downtown is safe so there really isn't anything else i could say other than you won't have any problems. If price is a concern check out J.Sq or The Heights. J.Sq has train access, however, the Heights doesn't but there are plenty of buses.

I am not looking for cheap cheap.... but is $1800-2000/month realistic for a 2 bedroom? I don't need any amendities either, just a decent house/condo type is fine.
I am glad to hear that the area is relatively safe.
For that price, yea finding an apartment won't be too much of an issue but you will have to look a few blocks away from the station. Myabe try the apartments east of the station , columbus ave( the apartment buildings with the HUGE parking lots, across the Club H fitness)
