Parking in Montclair (Passaic, Union, Sussex: homes, live in, bus)

So I'm moving to Montclair next week. For those that are familiar with the area or live in the area, what's my best bet for parking? Should I just go with the over night parking at the municipal building?

Also, what do you usually do when you have visitors over for the night?

You will sometimes see advertised spots behind homes or buildings in your area. If you have guests, call police non emergency number 744-1234 and let them know. No ticket if you don't abuse the system.

You can park overnight in the municipal lot but its pretty darn expensive and depending on where you want it can have a waiting list. You shouldnt move ANYWHERE in Montclair without off street parking! It can be an additional 600 a year otherwise.

And if a friend stays over do exactly what was suggested above and give notice. I believe the official line is to call 72 hours in advance if possible.
