That's the entire reason why people like him don't win, because of this dumb mentality that he can't win because other people won't vote for him. I'd rather vote for who I think is best (or least worst) and "throw away my vote" than vote for a candidate who I don't think is as qualified. Aye! mea culpa. Boy did I learn this past cycle. But still, what if you feel there IS no worthy candidate? Under this philosophy, I guess just not vote. But then, instead of the thought pattern that there were no good choices, it will generally be thought of as voter apathy.

I don't see how we can turn this process away from its lose-lose situation.
