We are considering moving to Holmdel but are concerned about the commute to NYC. I work on 57th and 5th. Can anyone tell me what the average commute time would be? I plan on driving to PNC at 7am then take the bus to PA and cab to 57th. Is this doable in 1.5 hours? What about the return trip home at 6pm?

the first mistake was the cab as that is slow and expensive!!! the subway Q,N,R in the same building goes directly to 59th and 5th ave a 2 block 2 min walk afterwards. The bus is very fast also there is a reason why NYC locals avoid cabs when possible. use the underpass the n,r,q is very easy to get. subway is faster also.

I would recommend driving to the NJT North Jersey Coast Line and then taking the train to Penn Station. From there, you could take the M4 or Q32 bus to your office. The trip would probably take at least an hour and 45 minutes, though.

Academy from PNC is reliable comfortable convenient and fast (ok, I'm grading on a curve). I'm writing this right now from the bus! NjT train is a horror. 30 years of commuting from the shore. Take the bus, and use the subway. 90 mins is totally doable.
