Hello, I am trying to get info about going to the prudential center with kids for a concert. I am trying to decide if I should drive or take the train.
I am coming from the Roseland area.

If I drive how is the parking and If I take the train is safety a factor when leaving the concert to walk to the train station.

thank you in advance.

You can drive in since you're from Roseland but it depends what day is the concert since rush hour sucks down there. Prudential Center Newark :: Directions & Parking Park in the yellow area. It's more expensive but it's closer to the arena. VIP garage is $25 and connects inside the arena.

i think the train is the most convenient thing to do, but it depends on how much stuff you'll be lugging with the kids. how many kids?

as far as safety, you'll be walking to and from with 100s of people, so I wouldn't be concerned about that.

I wouldn't be concerned walking from Newark Penn or Newark Broad to the Rock for a concert. Like the previous poster said there's hundreds of people going the same direction and usually a very visible police presence in the area.

From Roseland, it's a pretty quick drive - IF you're not going at rush hour. Driving through Newark at rush hour on McCarter Highway is not something I'd wish on my worst enemy.

I've only gone once, but I would never drive again.

Getting in wasn't so bad, although finding the entrance to the courtesy parking I had was difficult, even though it was VERY close to the arena. Getting out of the parking garage afterwards and onto McCarter Highway to head back to Route 78 afterwards was another matter, a nightmare I'll never repeat, even if the parking was free.

I'd rather walk to the train. Safety is really a non-issue.

Rhys

I never went to a concert with my parents. This person is going with kids. I assumed that meant young kids. Therefore, my comment "kids at a concert?".

Green zone works fine too. I've parked in #2 and #5 and both were close and easy.

No safety issues via car or train. the area isn't that bad and they always have lots of cops around for events.

Enjoy
