When you compare what surrounds it, Weehawken overall has done a good job in perserving its character...but how?? How come it doesnt look like union city or west new york?
i know there are elements of weehawken (usually by borders) that don't look as good, but still...i am surprised it looks the way it does. I checked the 2000 census demographics, and it said "The racial makeup of the township was 73.05% White, 3.58% African American, 0.20% Native American, 4.67% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 13.94% from other races, and 4.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 40.64% of the population"
