NJ justed passed the adoption reform bill. Last minute sneak in by speaker of the house. vote was 45 to 26.Passed by 5 votes. It now goes to Gov. Christie's desk. He has 5 days to pass or vetoe the bill.
If you oppose this bill please email or call Governor Christies website Office of the Governor | Contact Us Choose children and family in the drop down menu then adoption.

I am not against abortion. I think we should do whatever possible to help a woman either keep their child or choose adoption My feeling is if a young woman would chose adoption over abortion because she will be able to be anonymous and retain her privacy that opportunity should be available. Adoption should be the easiest thing to do. Give a child a chance at life instead of an abortion. Give a family who wants to adopt a baby a chance to have a newborn. This bill takes that away. The only way a young girl will be able to keep her privacy is if she uses the safe haven law. Dropping the baby off after birth to a firehouse or hospital after birth.

If you are a birth mom and are unaware of this law and want to retain privacy you will have one year to opt out.

Just want to inform birth moms out there if you are not aware of this new law.

Adopted children have a right to know where they came from. If you were not adopted, then you don't know what it's like waking up every day, wondering who you are.

This is silly. Just live your life, it doesn't really matter where you came from. You are here, and there's life to be lived and work to do. People waste so much time worrying about the irrelevant past, they become their own worst enemies and forget that life is today and tomorrow. Yesterday is over with. Move on, time is short.

Timneh 5 if you don't know who your are when you wake up a name on a piece of paper is not going to help you. Your identity is in your genes ( not a name) nurtured by those around you.

Not anti abortion. Very much pro choice.

Don't like this bill because it takes choices away from woman. Ending closed adoption. Endiing privacy. Forcing mostly the elderly woman who may not know they have to opt out because they have moved away, are sickly or even have alzheimers. The privacy that they have been able to keep for 30, 40, 50 years. Forces woman to give medical information or their right to keep their privacy will be taken away.

It should be opt-in, not opt-out.

Adopted and foster kids do live their lives. Who said they don't? It does matter where you come from; you can't relate, have an illegitimate child somewhere, or you don't care about your history. There are people out there that want to know; so what's wrong with that?

I agree that life is today (tomorrow is never promised to you). The past becomes relevant when medical history is needed.

so its better to be dead than alive and not know who your birth parents are?

sure, in an ideal situation you know. but i think being alive is more important.
