well, they could charge NJ citizens enough in taxes to pay for the things they need to do. but since NJ citizens just want to complain about paying for all the great stuff they get, the state politicians kiss our arses by not raising taxes to pay for the stuff, and instead, borrowing the money to do it (you can't NOT fix a bridge). then, by the time people wise up, we are paying millions of dollars in interest! gotta love it.

Or just spend less money on some areas and shift it to those things we really need to do. Like fixing bridges and roads.

But we have obviously gone down this path of discussion before.

yuppers! i'd love to see it happen that way, but if they spent less "somewhere" else...i'd rather see that tax pool be reduced (say, income taxes), and the gasoline tax be raised. i really like the idea of the gas tax primarily funding the maintenance of roads, along with maybe a supplmental amount from state income tax receipts.
