It all depends on what is going on in your life. If you have little school going kids and you want some part in their lifes on a "daily" basis, small places like Columbus is the choice.

Thank you all for responses.

Not to derail to far, but honestly after growing up in NYC, living in the south, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle and now Columbus - Columbus is actually pretty good place to raise a family. Cost of living is incredibly cheap compared to where we lived before, I have a 12minute commute door-to-door and the city exemplifies traditional mid-western values with all kinds of persuasions (politically and income-wise). There's a strong black community in Cbus but not much else in diversity and the city is pretty much a day's drive from Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Niagra Falls and so on. So Cbus has its charm.

But look, it ain't NYC - especially in terms of employment, diversity, convenience, food, activities so on and so on.

Actually lot less than a day !! More like a few hours. Include Cleaveland and Cincinatti !!

Well, NYC should not be compared to anything else, even to the state/cities right across the river.

Personally the only thing I dont like about OH in general is that it is too flat and cold.
