I'm moving to New Jersey from the midwest. My job is in the Secaucus area. Kids will be going to High Schools in a couple of years.
My monthly budget for rent is $2000.
My desire is to be close to the Secaucus area so that my commute is manageable. But the areas near Secaucus with good schools are expensive. I've researched Rutherford, Ridgewood etc. Are there other areas that I should look for?
My second option is to live in Plainsboro. I lived there during a summer and loved it. The high school is also great. But the commute is 1 hour!
Is it a good idea to live in Plainsboro and commute to Secaucus?
Another question I have is that I don't want to use my current car for commute. But I've been told that people in New Jersey have a "commuter car". Something less than 10K. How do I calculate the cost of having a car in New Jersey?
I'd appreciate your help. I love this forum!
