not really its the truth with Newark....theres Black Racism and White Racism....and both hold Newark back. Compared to Elizabeth or Jersey City or Paterson...
Nahh, it's easy to confuse socio-economic stratification and racism, but in this case and the NJ board in general a lot of times it is pretty clear-cut which of the two it is.
Oh course, Newark isn't "all bad." But too many areas are still very bad. All cities have their crime and gritty areas, but Newark just happens to have much more of it than others. Other than Forest Hills and maybe a few small other areas, there is not many people with MONEY in that city. Until that changes and serious gentrification takes place, Newark will always have a rep as a "bad city."
Photo#2 - I like the security camera.
I agree with the previous post that these photos dont support your theory. It really looks like a dump. Try taking some photos at night time (infrared) for a better comparison.
Some of those pictures don't do a whole lot to support your point, lol. Rundown looking neighborhoods.
Some of them were nicer, in fairness, and looking at the photos of the Ironbound just made me hungry for Portuguese food.
What it boils down to, though, no matter how many hidden gems and quiet streets there may be here and there in Newark--no one wants to live somewhere that is subject to regular gunfire, car theft, etc. It's just not worth it. There's nothing to prevent the gangs and lowlifes from turning the corner and coming down YOUR street in the same city.
what prevents them from driving to your suburban town and doing the same thing ? more and more families move from the city to the suburbs and wind up bringing a crime element with them (ie englewood recent driveby shootings)
