2nd time around for me, but I have the "6 point ID Verification Program" checklist this time:

Current license with digital photo
Original State (US) Birth Certificate with raised seal
Original Decree for Divorce
Bank account statement with my address
Verification of SS number
Blood sample
DNA swab
Great Grand Parents naturalization and citizenship records
Letter from my local congressman (with raised seal of course)
Finger print card for every state I lived in since turning 18
Reference from 2 personal references who have known me since I was 5
Copy of current license with digital photo for each personal reference
Statement under oath my intent to live in NJ (notarized, of course)
Certified copy of 2010 Federal and NJ tax returns

So, am I forgetting anything this time? Thanks

Uh, just as a reminder, some of the 9/11 attackers used NJ licenses as ID which they got through the weaker system in place at that time. So I am fine with these steps. ANd it helps stop ID theft as well.

The website is pretty clear of the requirements

They overdid it; you don't need that much documentation. And having a cop posted at DMV offices in case they suspect someone is just a waste of money.

Those requirements are the same in NH. Renewal requires the old dl and two certain types of forms of ID. The first being a birth certificate, passport or a few others and a secondary id.

Took me a little over an hour after work in April. Not fast but nothing like the bad old days of DMV. They actually have some kind of system working. Car inspection took 5 minutes last time. They really do nothing nowadays during inspection, but that's still quick

No problem, just venting.
