That's one of the best moves in this whole thread.

We also got the pipe from the attic to the basement. Does anyone know if there is an electrical outlet in the attic, close to this pipe, so I can set up my own wireless access point with a long ethernet cord?

There is outlet available for electric door opener and one can install it easily though other contractor. We just ordered with the builder's contractor so that we can have garage-ready home.
In terms of the electrical outlet, I asked today regarding whether or not the outlets would be standard in the garage for future garage door openers and I was told they are not included unless you buy the garage door openers (600 each!). Essentially you are paying for the electrical work.

For those living in their homes now, can you comment on the quality of the homes thus far? Have there been any major issues that people have identified or are dealing with? Did anyone do any research on Premier Developers before purchasing?

Any insight is appreciated. I plan to sign my contract this weekend and just want to make sure I am making a well informed decision.

Yogesh,

Did you have your home inspected, and could you recommend anybody? I'm not sure about who to use, if any on a new home construction.

Thank you.

Guest20:

Our bank had sent an appraiser to inspect our home 3 months ago and he submitted a 30-page appraisal report. He did not find anything negative. According to the report, "the home construction meets or exceeds the code requirements." The net living area of our (Bergen home) basement was reported as 1,234 sq ft.

Best people to inform will be the one who have already started living. Please note that in any new construction, you will find some superficial problems such as leaks, etc. which can be repaired. The builder provides one year full labor and material warranty and limited warranty for first 10 years, as per its public offering statement document.

You may get superior construction with custom-built homes, but they charge 30-50% more than the mass-produced homes such as Summerfields. The mass-produced homes are cheaper because builder buys material in bulk, apply for mass-permit with authorities and rotate labor in different phases. The development builder also spends sizable amount to develop plot, construct roads, street lights, storm water retention basin, drainage, etc., compare to small builder who just tears down existing home to make new ones, using the town's existing facilities.

To Akboo1 -- can you provide the name of the granite place in Edison? We also went with the standard granite with the hopes to replace it as soon as possible. Seems like they offer pretty good prices...

The closing is planned towards end of August. Just going through lots of formalities of bank asking different documents each day. I will write about closing experience after it is over.

For those of you already living in the Summerfields, have you called around for quotes on fencing and installation? The quotes we've received have been ridiculous for the allowed aluminum fencing.

Also, is anyone using a cleaning service that they would recommend?
