You guys are cool..

Very nice people. Very cheap though, I think the bargaining thing puts some off.

It does not seem to me that many indians understand 'value' in the american concept, and therefore protest anything that is not the cheapest in price.

Lol.. I will take that on a lighter note.. I admit that is true with many.. 1 US Dollar = 47 Indian Rupees. So Indians , generally newcomers to the US ,tend to think in terms of Rupees, that's what leads to the bargaining thing. They want to stock up on the dollars, go back to India and get it converted to Rupees. I dont blame them..Earning that amt in India generally takes a lifetime.. so it is like being 47 times richer ..But people who have been here long enough generally tend to stop thinking like that .It gets boring after a while , especially when you feel like indulging in something good and you feel oh! what the heck ..lol..

Well, what do you think of the "curries" we make ..I know most Americans HATE that curry smell ..

Default LOL Thread

I really love Panang. It is a mild curry and I just seem to crave it. I have never been to India or Asia but I really enjoy most of the curry-like smells. Most Indians I meet are actually quite fascinating. I am currently on the west coast and people are easier to get to know here. (people don't have the wall up as much) Many world-wise Indians in my area-coming from very different backgrounds. Most are super-friendly out here. They mix very well with all the Iranians, Armenians, and Israelis that dominate this area.

I try to be tolerant and accepting of all cultures, so please do not take this in an offensive way, but how come it seems that some Indians do not wear deodorant, I have heard that it is not a custom of Indian culture, is that it?

THanks.

I really believe that the attitudes you encounter reflect how educated and multi-cultural the people whom you meet are. Accepting other cultures for what they are, learning from all the others to whom one is exposed is something that is encouraged by some and discouraged by other, less worldly, individuals. Most people don't know that English is one of the official languages, among many, in India. And I could go on with lots of stereotypes. Again, reflecting how open others are to learning about other cultures. My experience with Indians here and in India has been nothing but positive.
