Parsippany has Lakeland buses going along Rt 46 every 30 mins or every hour into NYC except for maybe 1 or 2 AM til maybe 6 AM.
Shared rentals probably exist to lower the individual cost of renting apts.
Parsippany is a typical boring suburb town with industrial park here there and good school district. Bus is only transportation.
It ain't close to NYC so it will be a longgg bus ride. You'll probably pay more but Denville is stone throw away and more 'hip' for non-family person. Morristown is nearby but that cost helluva lot more. Denvill and Morristown both have train service to NYC as alternative to bus.
There are bank, pharma, and tech jobs around Parsippany if job market in local area is what you are interested in.
the shared rentals is because housing in Parsippany is pretty DAMN expensive!!!
but the neighborhood is very good. It is boring, but you'll probably say that if you've lived in NYC or in a busy city.
I grew up in Parsippany, and though its changed quite a bit from those days, I still think its a great little town. Lots of people, including my own family members, take the bus to the city everyday for work.... very convenient.
No experience / knowledge of shared rentals though, sorry.
