Hopefully the fare increase isn't big , but they really need to speed up replacing things and upgrading stations....why is everything being poured into the WTC? The PATH has a Jersey Centric ridership base....focus on Newport and Harrison...

I agree completely.
As for the fare increase, eh. PATH has been pretty fair and reasonable so far. It was at $1.50 FOREVER before going up to $1.75. Even if it goes up another quarter to $2, it's still cheaper (and much more efficient) than the subway.
As for any strange smells...maybe I'm just desensitized at this point, but I don't smell anything especially mysterious or ominous.
Well, except on the after midnight trains on the 33rd St. line that get combined with the Hoboken line. Those smell like drunk ex-frat boys and sorority sisters. I've had the misfortune of riding in the whiskey/urine/vomit car on more than one occasion after a late night at work. Breathing through your mouth, and trying not to pass out from rolling your eyes so hard, is key.

NO WAY is anyone going to even think about paying $10 to cross a bridge or tunnel! $8 is way too outrageous by itself. At that rate they might as well close the tunnels and bridges. Not needed at that price, thank you.

The MTA already charges that for some bridges....wait intill congestion pricing starts sometime down the road..

I dunno, Captne, the Verrazano seems to be doing just fine, and it's $13.00!
Even in a worst-case scenario, where the average folks stopped using them, there would be those 1% who could afford it (AND the gas). And THEN, well, there will be no traffic problems to delay them. Problems solved!
Yeah the pricing on all the crossings into and out of Manhattan is not at a price breaking point yet where people will stop driving across them. Move it up to $15-$20 each crossing and I think your breaking point lies somewhere in there. Like pvs mentioned...the Verrazano is $13 and has seen virtually no decline so why would the MTA not raise it?
It's not the trains or the tunnels which emit the strongest odors on PATH.
It is the tunnels and some stations due to there location and how they were built....
