I'm so glad I'm in the private sector with pension, 401K with great matching, bonuses and guaranteed raises. I don't take the bennies, but wouldn't pay nearly 60% of the cost if I did. And I don't get treated like a scum sucking leper!

No government worker has anything but Medicare at 65. What the State pays for is the supplemental policy if you have more than 25 years at retirement. You have HC up to 65 but everyone goes to Medicare at 65.

Is it only the teacher retirement HC plan that is free? My MIL just retired, she did work for the state, but not a teacher. She doesn't have free HC as a retiree - has Medicare and pays just under $300/month for supplemental insurance.
I'm a few decades away from the standard retirement age. At the same time, I'm self employed, so I have to pay for my own healthcare, 100% out of pocket, and save for my own retirement. No matching 401K plan, no pension.
To pay off Christie's buddy and benefactor by diverting all the health care business to his hospital firm. No one even is trying to deny the fact. Nor did most of the politicians even know about it. Sleazy politics at its best. what is really amazing is that they no longer even try to hide it thinking they have free reign to do whatever they please.
Not that I think the provision is right, but Norcross is in the insurance business and is the chairman of exactly ONE hopsital in South Jersey, Cooper Medical Center. I find it hard to believe that he will reap massive benefits from this clause considering most state employees don't even live in South Jersey. I don't know why they chose to include it, but I think it's a stretch to tie it all to Norcross.
What amazes me is how stupid he must think the public truly is and how little he cares about them. He "needs" this heliport for accident investigation priorities. Yet there are two airports within seven miles. By the time the flight crews are ready to depart, the AI teams could have easily been at the airport. Want to bet the big shots are the only ones using the heliport? He wants what he wants..now.
