Okay, so the last few threads have been pretty deep, no offense to anyone. I agree with both good and bad points about our little state of NJ, I have a love hate relationship with it. Anyway, to lighten the spirit of this forum, I thought maybe we could throw in our thoughts on what we think are the best (or worst) places for pumpkin and/or apple picking in our state, as we do still have many lovely farm areas.

When I was a kid, we used to go to Tice Farms (somewhere near Montvale, northern NJ) but now, it's an office complex. My husband and I always try to go to a different spot with the kids, but we're running low on ideas. I've only found two good places in all these years. One is on, I want to say Route 515 up near Vernon but I'm not sure if it's definitely 515. They have a hayride, a haunted hayride at night, rides, pig races, pumpkins of course, a shop, hot chocolate and dessert, but I cannot think of the name and the other is Ort Farms in Chester (just as good as the afforementioned).

Anyone else have suggestions since 'tis the season for it???!!!

Sussex County has some good places also. Some places even have hay rides for the family.

Good idea!! The one on Vernon is Heaven Hill Farm. There is on in Hillsdale that we go both apple and pumpkin picking called Demarest Farms. They have a great little store with good food and an area for the kids to play and you take a hayride to the picking areas. There is also one in Wyckoff called Abmas, and I think that one has a petting zoo. Not %100 sure though.

Yes, that's it, Heaven Hill!!!! The kids loved it there!

I've heard of Demarest Farms, I've looked it up I think, but we haven't been there yet.

Go to Casola Farms web site, they probably won't let me post it here but it's URL. I go there every year, they have a haunted hay ride, corn stalk maze, haunted house, pumpkin patch and snacks.

If you go to Demarest Farms, try their soup, it's awesome! It's a very nice place to take the kids, go pumpkin picking and have lunch.

I know you asked for places in NJ, but just slightly upstate in NY, there are a bunch of farms, in Warwick and Orange County that are really nice.
