My wife went to the spa at the Hilton across from Short Hills mall. She liked it but it was quite pricey.

thanks. did she do a massage? my wife is so-so with massages. she doesn't always enjoy them. some are too "rough" or deep and she doesn't like it.

My wife goes to Dieci, and I have gotten massages there in the past. It's very nice. The "snooty" factor is there, but it's not like you are going there to socialize.

As others have said, the Hilton at SH has a very nice spa too.

As far as the kind of massage you get, that really differs by masseuse, not the actual location, so it is hard to guarantee anything wherever you go.

thanks i was hoping someone could comment on Dieci. the prices seemed fairly reasonable too. lots of people have recommended the Massage Envy franchise. but i think she wants a bit more pampering and maybe some of that "snooty" factor. you know women love the whole "spa" thing. i could get a massage in a garage and i'd be happy.

and yes, it does depend on the masseuse, but deep tissue and sports massages are usually painful during, but feel great after. she doesn't enjoy those "hard" massages, and she doesn't speak up if the masseuse is too aggressive, which is part of the problem.
