I recently moved to JS area, which seems to be ok. I was drawn there because of the prospects of upcoming redevelopment, including this:

The New Journal Square

I am wondering if anyone heard any news regarding this project? Is it still planned for 2009-2010?

The article says:

"Harwood said he's in negotiations to purchase the three buildings on the block not owned by the Tawils - 15-16 Journal Square, which houses the McDonald's and Songs Hallmark; 14 Journal Square, which formerly housed a Wendy's; and 12 Journal Square, which houses Kentucky Fried Chicken."

As far as I can see, Songs and KFC have been closed. But McD is still operating. Also, there is a sign right next to KFC advertising space for a long term lease. Specifically, it says: "Long Term. Will not be demolished". That makes me wonder about the prospects of the above mentioned project.

Anyone got any insights?

thanks.

That's awesome news. Mentions McDonalds. Surprised that the real estate agency leasing the place next to McDonalds would put "will not be demolished".

It's a posturing move. It's going to force JC to bust out good ol' eminent domain OR have these guys pay more than a premium.

Trust me, Mckie Dees will be gone....
