Do you belong to AAA? If so, get a NC map. If things get ugly while you are on your way down, be prepared for landings at an alternate airport, Most likely in the Triad, at Greensboro, or CLT in Charlotte. Remember, there are 3 large metros in the Piedmont region of NC. They are growing together. The Triangle includes Raleigh, The Triad includes Greensboro, then there's Charlotte.
There are multiple scenarios being predicted for Irene. The worst possible scenerio is a direct hit to Charleston. The models are now predicting a more northerly landfall. We could get lucky & she could cross Florida & go into the gulf. They aren't predicting it, but it could happen.
cl chances are you will not be flying down here his weekend! If Irene keeps gearing toward the West, both States NC & NJ are going to get hit. Check with the airline, but it is doubtful for this weekend, and besides you are looking to relocate & you really want to look around here in good weather. Keep asking the questions, we are here for you.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Irene just goes out to sea, kelsie. Early on, they had a projection of a head-on hit in Charleston, which is what happened with Hugo. People in the Charlotte area are still leery, because Hugo wasn't expected to do that.
Im keeping my eye on this storm. its supposed to hit NJ. I dont want to leave our house with a big storm approaching. I'll have a better idea tomorrow evening/fri morning about our options. If we do have to postpone, it will be for sept 8. Please Irene, go THATAWAY!
Hello my fellow garden staters! My company is offering to relocate my husband and I to NC. the idea seems great BUT some of our friends our dampening our optimism. They claim we are hard core NJ natives and wouldn't like the NC LIFESTYLE. I can keep going, but I would like to know if any one here has left to NJ, to reside in NC, and then back to NJ. If so, what made you come back? What made you stay? And yes, j will also be posting this in the NC forum. Thanks in advance!
I would definitely go!!! the only reason I am still in jersey is because I do not have a job when I get to NC, its not all country like and the people are so nice compared to this crap we live in!!! NO racing in the morning with tons of traffic would be all I need to move!!!!!!!!!!!!
