i know pleasantdale has a decent sized orthodox community. i guess st cloud makes sense since it is pretty much an extension of livingston. but my personal experience of west orange has not been one in which i would exclaim that there are "lots of jews". lol
Beairprospect. We are thinking of this community too. Was wondering if you got any more insight in to the schools?
We decided against it for this year.
Taxes were too high to justify the schooling.
Mount Pleasant Elementary would possibly be feasible, but all the other schools come together for 6th - 8th and of course high school, so personally we would have to choose private for 6th onward.
Bel Air is phenomenal, but not economical for us, from a schooling standpoint.
i'm not sure where to find such numbers, but living in west orange, i've encountered very few jewish folks. maybe as you get closer to livingston, so maybe the bel air area is moreso, but i wouldn't say it's a large jewish population. mostly italian and irish is the "white" i encounter, with a diverse mix of many other races.
My neighborhood, Pleasantdale, has a large Jewish population because three synagogues are located here.
Joining this conversation very late - hope to get a response. We're also thinking about renting in Bel Air West Orange Townhomes and am wondering about the neighborhood itself - are there a lot of children in the community or is the community older?

My findings is that there are a lot of families with children, but also a lot of empty nesters. Percentage can be skewed, but I think it is indeed skewed slightly towards the non family direction.
Bumping this thread up hopefully for some more insight. My husband and I been searching for more CURRENT information, ESPECIALLY from current/past or future residents about The Reserve at Bel Air. Just like the OP we're in Hudson Co., but looking to move to the burbs with the kids in mind for the future. The value for the houses in this community are unmatched to anything else in the area. You get new construction and fantastic open layouts that are very important to us. We get that the school system is what it is, so this would probably be a 10 year move at best, unless their were great changes made. Can anyone speak to living in the this development/WO as a young family?
Please, move there; someone's gotta buy the expensive new houses to keep my taxes down :-).
